List of high-earning civil servants includes housing and planning chief Richard McCarthy
Salary details released by the Cabinet Office show that housing mandarin Richard McCarthy earns 拢175,000 per year.
The names of 170 civil servants earning over 拢150,000 were released yesterday, as part of David Cameron鈥檚 push for transparency. Among the details released were those of Richard McCarthy, the director general of housing and planning in the Communities and Local Government department, who is earning between 拢175,000 and 拢179,999.
Other figures released included:
- John McCready, managing director of property in the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, earns 拢150,000-拢154,999
- Joe Montgomery, director-general of regions and communities in Communities and Local Government, earns 拢150,000-拢154,999.
- Jeremy Beeton, director-general of the government Olympic executive in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, earns 拢225,000-拢229,999
- David Goldstone, director of finance and programme for the government Olympic executive in the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, earns 拢185,000 - 拢189,999
- Nirmal Kotecha, major projects director for the Highways Agency in the Department for Transport, earns 拢150,000-拢154,999.
In a letter to his Cabinet, David Cameron said that he is setting up a Public Sector Transparency Board, which will be chaired by the minister for the Cabinet Office Francis Maude.
