Work is expected to start on the 55,000 m2 project this August

Specialist and Critical Care Centre East Wales

Gleeds has been appointed as project and cost manager on a 拢350m hospital in Wales.

The consultant joins Laing O鈥橰ourke on the Specialist and Critical Care Centre (SCCC) scheme in Llanfrechfa, after the contractor was also confirmed for the main works after completing a pre-construction services deal.

Enabling works are expected to start this August, following a period of benchmarking by the Welsh government. Completion is scheduled for spring 2021.

The 55,000 m2 hospital for the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board will house 470 patient beds and a 24-hour acute assessment unit and emergency department complex providing specialist and critical care treatment for over 600,000 people in South-east Wales.
