New homes to be built at west London authority鈥檚 HQ
Galliford Try Partnerships has been appointed by Ealing council to work on a major new development in west London worth an estimated 拢275 million.
The contractor was chosen to be the council鈥檚 development partner earlier this month in a regeneration scheme centred on the council鈥檚 existing headquarters. The proposed development, which is being designed by Farrells, includes the creation of 471 new homes 鈥 half of which will be affordable housing.
Julian Bell, Ealing Council leader, said: 鈥淥ur offices are in a key town centre location, but at the moment we aren鈥檛 making the best use of this important site. The exciting innovative proposal will deliver modern council headquarters, much needed affordable homes, and a brand new customer service centre and library.鈥
The scheme will allow new council offices to be built in the first phase, by demolishing half of the existing council headquarters and relocating staff into the remaining half, according to the architect on the job Farrells.
A development agreement is expected to be signed by November this year, with the scheme expected to go to Ealing Council鈥檚 planning committee by March 2018. Subject to approval, work will begin by September next year and it is estimated that the development will be completed by 2025.
