Residential scheme by Fosters and Christian Candy’s CPC Group, set to start on site early next year
A 165 luxury apartment scheme in London designed by Foster + Partners for developer Christian Candy’s CPC Group is to start on site early next year after the project cleared a final hurdle.
The Sugar Quay development close to Tower Bridge on the Thames - seen as the last big residential development site in the square mile - was recently granted planning permission by the City of London.
However, it also depended on acquiring the freehold interest from the Fishmongers company, something CPC has now achieved.
The £400m development will also include a waterfront commercial unit and a mixed-use ground floor.
Other features include a restaurant and bar. Work is expected to finish in late 2016.
CPC Group also has consent for a 230,000 sq ft office redevelopment on the site. It previously developed the Rogers Stirk Harbour & Partners-designed One Hyde Park, the most expensive residential scheme in the country.
