Engineers Mott Macdonald, Arup and Atkins all to design parts of the new line

Five firms have scooped up 拢49m of engineering and design contracts on the HS2 project.

Engineers Mott Macdonald, Atkins , Ineco, Arup and consultant Capita Symonds have all been awarded work on the railway line which will run from London to Birmingham.

Mott Macdonald will design 25km of line from Euston station through North-West London under a  contract worth 拢13.2m.

Atkins have won a 拢13.3m contract to design 91km of the route through Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, including tunnelling in the Chilterns.

Working as a joint venture Capita Symonds and Ineco have won a 拢11.1m contract to design 78km through Warwickshire and Staffordshire.

Plus, Arup has been awarded a 拢11.4m contract to design 22km of the route, Birmingham Interchange Station, an interchange station at the Birmingham NEC and Airport, a rolling stock depot and Curzon Street station also in Birmingham.
