Brother's 拢15m claim is first legal action in wake of accident that killed seven

The brother of a construction worker killed in the New York Crane collapse has filed a claim against the city for $30m (拢15m).

The notice of claim by Christopher Canzona, brother of Clifford Canzona, is thought to be the first legal action related to the collapse on 15 March.

According to the notice, Clifford Canzona was helping to erect a 46-story building when the accident occurred and was found dead 鈥渙n March 18 under rubble and debris crushed by the crane鈥. He fell 18 floors.

The notice alleges that the accident was 鈥渃aused, in part, by the negligence of the city鈥 and its Department of 黑洞社区s in failing to check the construction site.

Meanwhile a city construction site inspector has been arrested after authorities said he lied about inspecting the crane on 4 March.

The accident killed seven people and damaged several buildings.
