Laing O'Rourke finishes 512-bed £225m scheme, located outside Tunbridge Wells

Laing O'Rourke has topped out England's first NHS hospital to contain single-rooms only.

The 512-bed hospital is being built outside Tunbridge Wells, on the site of the existing Pembury Hospital.

Laing O'Rourke Construction is building the £225m development in partnership with Maidstone and Tunbridge NHS Trust and Kent and East Sussex Weald Hospital.

Leaders from all three organisations witnessed the last of the concrete to be poured at the highest point of the structure this week.

The hospital is scheduled to be open to patients by January 2011.
