GLA appoints consultant as project manager and CDM coordinator on energy saving project
Consultant EC Harris has been hired by the Greater London Authority to provide project management and construction design management coordinator support to the Trafalgar Square lighting renewal and restoration scheme.
The works aims to substantially reduce running costs, offering an estimated saving of approximately £240,000 over the next 20 years.
The installation will also reduce the carbon footprint of the site, saving as much as 16,250 kg CO² per year.
It involves the use of energy efficient sustainable lighting to enhance the historic square in the centre of London.
This entailed the replacement of the fountains existing halogen system with a new compliant extra low voltage LED luminaire installation, complete with colour change capacity and ‘show’ controls.
EC Harris also project managed the conservation and restoration work to the main fountain bowls.
