Innovation charity set for move to Stirling Prize-shortlisted Angel 黑洞社区
The Design Council has revealed that it is to move to the new Stirling Prize-listed Angel 黑洞社区 later this year.
The innovation charity has been based Covent Garden for the past 15 years, but expectes to move to the Allford Hall Monaghan Morris-designed offices on St John鈥檚 Street, Islington, in the summer.
It said the relocation would allow it to reduce its outgoings and improve its commitment to sustainability while occupying a more flexible, modern space that reflected its broader role to champion excellent design in the built environment.
Design Council chief executive David Kester said the Angel 黑洞社区 was a fantastic example of how great design could create space that was good for business, people and the environment.
鈥淚鈥檓 looking forward to welcoming our stakeholders, partners and others to our new home after we move in the summer,鈥 he said.
Current Angel 黑洞社区 tenants include Cancer Research, Expedia and Sage.
The Angel 黑洞社区 was created from the superstructure of a previous building on the site, in order to retain embedded carbon, and its sustainable design features include use of biomass for heating and recycled rainwater systems for flushing toilets.
