Consultant will act as employers’ agent on conversion of city centre office block
Consultant DBK has landed the role of employers’ agent on the conversion of a Birmingham office block into a hotel.
The conversion of One Martineau Place in Birmingham city centre for client Cannock SP Limited has a development value of £35m.
DBK will also provide building surveying, CDM and quantity surveying advice.
The former 13-storey office building will be converted into a 168-room hotel operated under InterContinental Hotel group’s Staybridge Suite brand.
There will also be new retail units at ground floor level.
Duncan Berry, managing partner of DBK, said: “The completion of Martineau Place will significantly improve a landmark area of Birmingham’s city centre landscape and bring a decayed building back into use. We are delighted to be part of this transformation.”
Mike Tracey, managing director of Cannock SP Limited, said: “DBK’s excellent track record clinched its appointment on our One Martineau Place scheme. The team has the right experience and innovative approach and understanding that we were looking for.”
