Scheme is architect鈥檚 biggest London project to date
Westminster council has approved plans by David Adjaye for a mixed-use scheme opposite the Ritz in London鈥檚 Mayfair.
The work involves a 拢600m redevelopment of an entire city block for Crosstree Real Estate Management.
Adjaye landed his biggest London project to date at the start of last year against competition from Frank Gehry, Jean Nouvel, Eric Parry and Rem Koolhaas鈥檚 practice OMA.
The brief was 鈥渢o provide a beautiful addition to the Piccadilly streetscape and create a building worthy of being opposite the Ritz鈥.
The 36,500sq m scheme will include retail, a hotel and luxury apartments.
The site at 70-73 Piccadilly is predominantly made up of a collection of post-war buildings and also includes Dover Street.
The aim is to get Breeam 鈥渆xcellent鈥 for the hotel and retail and Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 for the residential.
