Strong winds bring down crane in Westminster

A crane has collapse on the roof of the Cabinet Office in Westminster.

The crane collapsed as the UK was battered by a storm overnight with high winds of up to 70mph.

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg cancelled a regular press conference at the Cabinet Office due to the collapsed crane and disruption to commuters鈥� journeys.

He tweeted: 鈥淭oday鈥檚 press conference moved to a day when there isn鈥檛 a crane on the roof and journalists travelling on the train are able to join us.鈥�

Whitehall, the road running next to the building, has been closed.

No injuries have been reported.
