Firms signing up include EDF and Balfour Beatty

The Construction Leadership Council鈥檚 talent retention scheme has gone live today.

The allows skilled individuals to display their experience and expertise and helps businesses across the industry find the skills they need.

Employees at risk of redundancy can be temporarily loaned to another company

The CLC said there has been strong interest in the scheme since it was announced as part of chancellor Rishi Sunak鈥檚 plan for jobs earlier this month.

More than 400 employers have signed up to use the scheme.

The not-for-profit programme has been backed by the government.

These companies range from multinational engineering giants to micro businesses. Early adopters who have roles listed at launch include EDF, Balfour Beatty and Travis Perkins.

CLC co-chairman Andy Mitchell, who is also chief executive of the Tideway scheme, said: 鈥淭he Talent Retention Scheme is an important element of the CLC鈥檚 recovery plan for the construction sector, offering an opportunity for the industry to keep the vital skills it needs to drive growth across the UK.鈥

The free-to-use site allows the redeployment of staff at risk of redundancy and enables temporary employee loans between businesses.

It also gives displaced workers from other sectors a route to find new employment.

The platform allows companies to search candidates鈥 online profiles and CVs on a local, regional and national basis.
