Transport minister and London mayor make joint appointment to handle complaints about Crossrail building work

The transport minister, Lord Adonis, and London mayor Boris Johnson have jointly appointed an official to handle complaints about Crossrail construction work.

Tony Gregory, the new Crossrail complaints commissioner, will assist members of the public who feel they have not been able to resolve issues around building work connected with Crossrail.

Gregory has a long history in complaints, being the former assistant complaints commissioner for the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and the assistant referee for Crossrail.

Adonis said that Crossrail will transform London and added: 鈥淲e are working to ensure construction is completed quickly and efficiently and at the minimum level of disruption possible.鈥

Johnson said: 鈥 As construction progresses, community relations representatives and Crossrail's 24-hour public helpdesk will help to resolve any problems that might occur. Where this cannot be achieved it is essential that Londoners are protected and that issues can be referred to an independent adjudicator.鈥

On 5 January, logistics firm DHL Exel Supply Chain was awarded the contract to examine how to minimise the impact of work on the UK's Crossrail scheme, which is Europe's largest construction project.
