Newspaper report of new stadium designed by HOK Sport denied by club

Chelsea Football Club has denied reports that it intends to build a new stadium at Battersea Power Station designed by HOK Sport.

The Observer reported this weekend that the west London football club was considering a 拢500m move from its Stamford Bridge home to a location near Battersea Power Station.

The report said that HOK Sport had designed a new, 75,000-seat stadium for the club, which now heads the premiership league. An HOK employee was quoted as saying that its presentation was 鈥渃ommon knowledge鈥 around the club.

But Chelsea has rubbished the reports as 鈥渢otal nonsense鈥. A statement released yesterday said: 鈥淐helsea is not actively considering moving to this site in Battersea鈥 the architects HOK have not been commissioned by Chelsea to build a stadium and do not work for the club. Their approach was unsolicited.鈥
