Unusual timber scheme provides 'sun-dappled facade' in the heart of the City
This timber structure on the Thames next to Cannon Street station is intended to recall the river鈥檚 maritime history.
Watermark Place, under construction by Sir Robert MacAlpine, is a 160,000m2 mixed-use Cannon Street scheme and fills the largest area of open riverside space in the City of London. Fletcher Priest is the architect.
When finished, the firm promises the development will offer: 鈥渟un-dappled facades, a sheltered public realm formed by timber structures鈥� and a substantial addition to the collateral of the City鈥�.
Adjacent Cannon Street station is undergoing a 拢410m Foggo Associates-designed renovation to be built by Laing O鈥橰ourke.
