Plans include several new aircraft stands and the expansion of termianl facilties

London City Airport expansion plans 2017

Bechtel has bagged the five-year delivery partner contract to manage the expansion of London City Airport.

The work includes increasing existing terminal facilities and creating new airfield infrastructure for a further 30,000 permitted flight movements. The new facilities will allow for up to 6.5 million passengers by 2025.

London City Airport鈥檚 multi-million pound development plans also includes building a new three-storey passenger pier, seven new aircraft stands and a new aircraft taxi lane. 

Declan Collier, chief executive of London City Airport, said: 鈥淭he appointment of Bechtel signals the next important step towards the start of construction on this significant development.

鈥淭heir expertise and experience will ensure that the programme is delivered responsibly, professionally and skillfully, while the airport remains operational.鈥

Bechtel has previously worked on expansion plans for Gatwick and McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.

Currently the company is also currently working on designing and building a new terminal at Muscat International Airport in Oman.
