Balfour's Consort Healthcare business will design and build an acute hospital under 34-year PFI concession

Balfour Beatty鈥檚 specialist healthcare company Consort has reached financial close on the Tameside and Glossop Acute Services NHS Trust PFI project in Greater Manchester.

Consort Healthcare (Tameside), in conjunction with HSBC Infrastructure Fund Management Limited, will design, build, operate and maintain an acute hospital under a 34-year PFI concession. The 拢77m scheme includes a new mental healthcare facility for older people, energy centre and car-park at the existing Tameside General Hospital site in Ashton-under Lyne.

The scheme is part of the Northern Batch scheme, which also comprises the the 拢136m scheme for the Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, which reached financial close last week.

Balfour Beatty Construction, which will carry out the building work, is due to start immediately, with completion expected in 2011.

Balfour's Haden Young will perform the electrical and mechanical systems work and Haden 黑洞社区 Management will supply all facilities management services.
