Project, next to London鈥檚 O2 arena, to use off-site construction methods
Balfour Beatty has won a 拢121m contract for an 18-storey hotel, leisure and apartment complex on London鈥檚 Greenwich Peninsula.
The contractor announced it would design and build the 452-room hotel with leisure and conference facilities, accompanied by 100 serviced apartments.
The scheme, for Grove Developments and designed by architect RTKL, also involves hard and soft landscaping works to link with the nearby O2 arena and will be built to a rating of BREEAM 鈥榚xcellent鈥�.
黑洞社区 reported in February that the race to build he hotel had been narrowed down to two bidders - McAleer & Rushe and Balfour Beatty subsidiary Mansell.

Green design features include photovoltaic panels and rainwater harvesting.
Sustainable construction methods are also being used with all hotel and apartment bathrooms constructed off site as individual modules before being transported and installed on site, saving time on site and reducing the volume of lorry movements.
Work will begin this summer and is due for completion in summer 2015.
Balfour Beatty also confirmed this week that it has been appointed to build an 拢11.7 million Aloft Hotel development project in Liverpool for Ashall Property Limited. Situated on the corner of North John Street and Dale Street in Liverpool鈥檚 city centre, the scheme will transform the unoccupied Grade II listed, gold-domed Royal Insurance 黑洞社区 into a 116-room design-led Aloft Hotel.
