Consultant鈥檚 role on Gold Line will be worth 拢80m over two years

Atkins has won the lead design role on a 拢2.5bn metro line in Doha, Qatar.

The consultant said the role on the planned Doha Gold Line will be worth around 拢80m to the firm over the next two years.

The line involves construction of a 32km tunnel with six boring machines and delivery of 13 underground stations.

Atkins was appointed by the Gold Line consortium of contractors 鈥 Greece-based Aktor, Turkey-based Yapi Merkezi and STFA, India-based Larsen & Toubro and Qatar-based Al Jaber Engineering.

In a trading statement for the period from 1 April to date, Atkins said it was trading in line with expectations, 鈥渄espite ongoing currency headwinds鈥 due to the strengthening pound relative to overseas currencies.
