Architect who masterplanned London鈥檚 Southbank passed away last weekend.
Architect Rick Mather died over the course of last weekend aged 75, after a short period of illness.
Mather was famous for his work on the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Ashmolean Museum and his masterplan for London鈥檚 Southbank.
He came to prominence in the Architectural Association, the oldest independent architecture school in the UK, in the 1970s before setting up his own practice, Rick Mather Architects, in 1973.
In a statement on the practice鈥檚 website colleagues said he was 鈥渁n inspirational architect and friend鈥 who would be 鈥渟orely missed鈥.
They added: 鈥淩ick combines a sharp wit and a charming manner, with a playful intelligence, which he brought to his work. He was a generous mentor who shared his enthusiasm with others.鈥
