Second city seeing emerging high-rise cluster

Proposals by Glancy Nicholls for another residential tower in central Birmingham have been given the green light by city planners.

The architect is already behind a 61-storey scheme for Euro Property Investments at 100 Broad Street, which will include just over 500 flats.

Now the firm has been given the go-ahead for a 51-storey job called One Eastside (pictured), which will provide more than 650 homes for the build-to-rent sector in the tower and a smaller 15-storey building.

Proposals for the 拢160m One Eastside project also include a 鈥渟ky lounge鈥 with a rooftop dining and bar area. The developer on the scheme is Court Collaboration.

A growing number of tall towers are being built in Birmingham, with local practice Glenn Howells winning planning permission earlier this year for a 42-storey tower called the Mercian. Sisk is main contractor on the 拢183m project for developer Moda.
