College鈥檚 拢40m will include research and clinical areas to treat patients in innovative ways
Architect Allies & Morrison has been appointed to design a new 拢40m biomedical engineering research hub for Imperial College London.
The hub will be situated at the College鈥檚 research and innovation campus at White City in West London and will provide space for research into new medical technology.
The new building will also incorporate clinical areas, providing patients with direct access to innovations in healthcare.
The research facility has been funded by a 拢40m donation from founder of engineering firm Civil & Marine Michael Uren.
Martin Summersgill, director for estates masterplanning and development, said the hub would 鈥減rovide a significant step in establishing Imperial West as a high quality environment for world-leading research鈥.
This new development will follow the two new buildings comprising the Research and Translation Hub which have already started construction, for completion in 2017.
Imperial also announced that Jones Lang LaSalle has been appointed to handle town planning, Buro Happold has been appointed as mechanical and electrical engineer, Curtins has been appointed as structural engineer and Faithful and Gould has been hired as cost consultant for the new hub.
Imperial expects to submit a planning application for the new building early next year.
