Standing Seam Roofing

Catnic has launched the SSR2 Standing Seam Roofing and Cladding system. The system is designed for conventional pitched roofs as low as five degrees in the residential and commercial market. Available in a range of contemporary colours, the new SSR2 Roofing and Cladding system is manufactured from Tata Steel鈥檚 Colorcoat HPS200 Ultra pre-finished steel, making it a suitable alternative to traditional copper and zinc standing seam roof systems. The company claims the new system is easy to install, as it is seven times lighter than conventional roof tiles and can be slotted into place effectively.

Roof membranes
Approximately 3,000m2 of Sika-Trocal S Membrane has been supplied to a series of roofs on a new 25,000ft2 Waitrose supermarket. Built in the centre of Dorking, the project included the design and construction of a new two-storey branch with underground split-level car park. Laid over the insulation onto the deep profile metal deck, the Sika-Trocal Type S membrane was fastened using Sika-Trocal鈥檚 laminated metal disc system. The company claims the Trocal Type S membrane was used as it offers exceptional waterproofing durability and a simple installation process, saving time on site, which was key for this project.

Waterproofing membrane
UltraPly TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin) waterproofing membrane has been supplied by Firestone 黑洞社区 Products to protect the roof of a non-denominational 鈥渞eception building鈥 at GreenAcres Woodland Burials site in Rainford, Merseyside. The UltraPly membrane was laid onto the building鈥檚 insulated roof and adhered to the substrate. The company says their product was chosen as the extensive use of wood in the building鈥檚 construction demanded a roofing solution with flame-free installation, and the TPO system offers many environmental benefits.

PV roof tiles
Romag has supplied integrated PV roof tiles as part of the 拢12m Park Dale housing development in Castleford, West Yorkshire. Over 90 homes have been built for social and intermediate rent to comply with Level 6 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. PV designer and installer Beco commissioned Romag to produce the 562mm x 1,247mm panels to produce more than 83W of power. The PV technology has been designed to integrate with regular slate tiles to form a central feature on the south-facing roof of each of the two, three and four-bedroomed houses on the development.

Welsh-Slate

Slates

Around 6,400 natural slates from Welsh Slate have been used for a refurbishment project on the first purpose-built gym in England, now a designer restaurant. More than 600m2 of Welsh Slate鈥檚 500mm x 300mm Penrhyn Heather Blue County slates have been used on the main and clerestory roofs and flank roofs of the dormer windows. The company claims the slates were chosen as they provide quality aesthetics, which was an important factor for the new restaurant.

Slates
Cembrit has provided its Jutland (smooth) and Zeeland (textured) fibre cement slates for a nature-inspired housing development in the seaside town of Weymouth. Poole-based building contractor F.H.Cummings worked with roofing specialist Weatherbury Roofing on this project. Having installed Cembrit slates in the past, the roofer specified Jutland and Zeeland fibre cement slates for the new build properties. The company claims the slates were chosen as they come in a variety of surface textures, which allows the contactor to choose a slate for each design.

Clay tiles
Redland has developed the Clay Universal Angle Ridge and Hip Tiles. These new ridges and hips are the clay equivalent of the Universal Angle Ridge and Hip tiles manufactured from concrete. The new ridge and hip tiles can be used with all Redland dry fix ridge and hip systems, including DryVent Ridge, Rapid Vented Ridge, Dry Hip, Rapid Hip and Uni-Vent Rapid Ridge/Hip. The company says the Clay Universal Angle Ridge and Hip Tiles are ideal for both the new build and renovation sectors across the country but are expected to be particularly popular in the private renovation sector where similar tiles are in need of replacement.

Composite roof panel
Eurobond has launched Roofspan, a non-combustible stone wool core, trapezoidal composite roof panel. The Eurobond NRG option is available across the Roofspan range and is particularly suitable for buildings where the underside of the roof is exposed. It uses a special internal steel face that maximises daylight and reduces the requirement for artificial lighting, and the company says, as a result, there will be lower light energy bills for the life of the building, a reduction in the carbon footprint and a positive contribution to material credits in a BREEAM assessment.

Coping-3

Coping system

Aluminium rainwater and eaves system manufacturer Marley Alutec has launched a coping system with a fully weathertight life expectancy of 50 years or more. Unique to the new Evoke coping range is a butyl adhesive seal, which the company claims outlasts the EPDM compression seals normally used in coping systems and ensures the installation remains 100% weathertight throughout its extended life. The new coping complements Marley Alutec鈥檚 existing Evoke fascia and soffit system, providing a full range of eaves and roofline solutions.
