Maxwood have manufactured and installed child-friendly washrooms for Holy Family Catholic Primary School in Acton. The complete washroom package consisted of toilet cubicles with printed graphics, complementary sinks, and pre-plumbed duct panelling. The company claims that the Maxwall duct panelling system was specified for the project to save installation time and cost. Pre-plumbed modules were made-to-measure by Maxwood and delivered to site ready to install. Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) was used for cubicle doors, panels and vanity units throughout the installation.

High Gloss Washtroughs

Franke Washroom Systems has recently extended its Miranit Bespoke basins range to include Miranit High Gloss Washtroughs. The washtroughs are precast in one complete, seamless piece thanks to the company’s moulded manufacturing process. Developed for education, retail, leisure, and corporate washrooms, the company says the solid Miranit material used for the High Gloss Washtroughs combines strength and durability with high hygiene performance. The Miranit High Gloss Gelcoat layer which covers the surface is resistant to limescale and prevents bacteria buildup. There is choice of two lengths; 1200mm (for 2 users) and 1800mm (for 3 users). All Franke Washroom Systems’ products comply with current CE Marking requirements.

Automatic door drive system

iMotion 2301 automatic door drive system from TORMAX has been chosen to power a set of two-leaf automatic sliding doors, designed and installed by Dotcom Glazing at the newly refurbished Collingwood Centre at Rugby School. Dotcom Glazing chose the iMotion operator due to the products reliability in high traffic locations. TORMAX says that the iMotion operator has been designed to operate continuously with minimum maintenance thanks to a range of internal self-monitoring functions.

Roofing batten

Specialist subcontractor Attley’s has chosen John Brash JB-RED as the preferred roofing batten for the Bekyton Field development at Eton College. The new £19m development will be home to the modern languages department and include a lecture/ debating theatre and exhibition space, currently earmarked for the return of the Myers Collection. Specified as BS5534 treated soft sawn wood, the company says Attley’s chose JB-RED for its quality and performance.

Roof Tiles

Keymer has supplied 30,000 hand-crafted tiles to an independent mixed boarding school located in Chelmsford, Essex. Roofing contractor Scofield & Lait used Keymer’s louvered vent ridge together with County Shire tiles in the construction of a classroom building, fitness suite and changing rooms. Keymer’s range of tiles were chosen as the design
of the classroom building had to be traditional in appearance while achieving a BREEAM, Very Good rating. All Keymer tiles adhere to a quality system approved by the British Standards Institute, certificate no. Q05516 complying with EN ISO 9002, and confirm to the performance criteria of EN 13Q4.

Kingspan Tarec’s Next Generation Kolltherm Pipe Insulation has obtained LABC registered detail status. The application was rigorously assessed, considering both physical and thermal properties, to confirm the product applies with building regulations in its particular end use application. The company says Kooltherm Pipe Insulation can achieve thermal conductivities as low as 0.025 W/m-K. The product also holds a Green Guide A+ summary rating, and is suitable for new build and refurbishment applications in residential, commercial, leisure and institutional sectors.

Products from architectural aluminium systems company Sapa ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø System have been used as part of refurbishment works at Worcester Sixth Form College. Sapa’s Dualframe 75 casement windows were installed by Howard Yarnold throughout the two wings of the main building, along with Sapa’s Elegance 52 curtain walling system and 202 high-traffic doors. Sapa worked with architects Quattro Design to overclad the existing facade and install replacement windows in order to meet weather performance critera, specifically water tightness.

H+H has produced a technical update for the new Approved Document Part L, which comes into effect on 6 April. The document explains how Celcon Blocks can be used to meet the regulations in different types of construction. The update introduces an additional target, the Fabric Energy Efficiency standard. The company says the purpose of this requirement is to ensure that a design has good levels of fabric insulation.

ASSA ABLOY Security Solutions has produced nine BIM doorset objects, available from www.assaabloy.co.ukBIM on REVIT software with alternative versions to follow. The firm says it was helpful for the overall specification solution to launch the objects because of the size of the products relative to the rest of the build, providing specifiers and architects with a one-stop solution for hardware and doors across a range of different building types.

Saint-Gobain is launching its sixth Technical Academy, updating the facilities at its Weber site in Flitwick. The academy is opening in response to increasing demand for external wall insulation (EWI) training from ECO initiatives.
