The company says they are particularly suitable for the education and leisure sectors because their ribbed surface makes them easy to clean. The mats are available in black, green, red, grey, blue-grey, blue and brown.

Cutting noise from concrete sub-floors
Junckers has developed an acoustic flooring system for use over concrete sub-floors in new or refurbished residential buildings. The New Era Acoustic System is made of polypropylene and foam and the maker says the denseness of the foam provides enhanced resistance to sound transmission. It is even suitable for areas where the sub-floor is uneven, according to Junckers.

Underfloor heating
Devi has launched an electric underfloor heating system called Devicell. Said to be quick and easy to install, the product comprises an insulating sub-floor and a heat-conducting surface to ensure that the maximum amount of heat is reflected upwards rather than being dispersed through the floor. It is suitable for concrete or wooden floors.

Acoustic floor panel
Proctor Group has launched Profloor Activ Deck, a floor panel that is said to improve the acoustic performance of timber floors. The 31 mm thick profile overlay board uses a vertical-oriented fibre that, according to Proctor, cuts transmission of both impact and airborne noise. It is suitable for refurbishments and conversions.

Carpet tiles of many colours
Modular commercial flooring maker Interface has relaunched Palette 2000, its range of plain cut-pile carpet tiles, in 80 new colours. The high-tuft density product is fusion-bonded and is made using nylon yarn, which is said to resist abrasion and hide dirt more effectively.

CMS Acoustic Solution has launched Regupol Acousti-Tile, an acoustic system for installation under ceramic tiles in bathrooms and kitchens. The system is made up of a high-performance acoustic underlay, floor and tile adhesives and grout. The acoustic layer is reconstituted cork and rubber.

Floor coverings specialist Tarkett has launched Linoleum xf, which is designed to be resistant to abrasion, staining and chemicals. The product is backed with jute and topped with a UV-hardened layer said to make cleaning easier.

- Welsh Slate has opened a showroom in Leuven, Belgium, to further its development and diversification plans for the European market. The showroom, which has been designed as an art gallery, features the company’s full range of natural slate paving, flooring, cladding and landscaping products.
- The Resin Flooring Association has become a member of the RIBA’s CPD Providers Network, offering guidance on the use of resin flooring for industrial and commercial applications. The body says it will provide up-to-date technical advice on the correct specification and application of synthetic resin flooring.
- Egger UK has launched an interactive CD/DVD to provide information on its Rapid Deck chipboard flooring system, which comprises Weyroc Protect boards and Weyroc D4 adhesive. The system is said to cut the time taken to install floors because it doesn’t require the use of nails or joint tape. The CD/DVD also includes information about the manufacturing of Weyroc Protect, instructions on how to lay the floor, technical data and a cost calculator.
- Tyco Thermal Controls has published a 32-page handbook on its Raychem electrical underfloor heating systems. The company says the brochure highlights the energy-efficient qualities of its products and offers installation advice.
- Puhos Board has been appointed sole supply partner for Trus Joist’s floor deckboards for
England, Scotland and Wales. The companies previously collaborated to market Puhos Wether
Dek2 flooring and Trus Joist engineered wood products as complementary products. The companies say the partnership will make product distribution easier. - Howe Green, a maker of specialist access covers, has published Specification Guide to Floor, Wall and Ceiling Access Covers. The company says the guide includes precision drawings that illustrate how its access covers are made, fixed and can be used

coloured PVCu. - Timber engineering company BSW Timber Systems and Alouette Homes, a Canadian maker of off-site timber-frame homes, have established a joint venture called BSW Alouette to formalise their existing partnership as suppliers of roof trusses and floor and panelised wall systems in the UK.
