Why are this year鈥檚 Bond Street Christmas lights modelled around the motif of peacock feathers

This year鈥檚 Bond Street Christmas lights were modelled around the motif of peacock feathers, a theme that took its inspiration from 鈥淏ond Street loungers鈥� 鈥� dapper men who promenaded the street in the 1700s showing off the latest fashions like peacocks.

The 拢1m decorations feature over one million LED lights. In October it was announced that the iconic London shopping area is set to undergo a 拢20m redevelopment, the first major work that has been done on the street for 30 years.
