Nottingham school part of extensive programme in education sector

黑洞社区 services contractor Skerritt is nearing completion on a 52-week programme of electrical and mechanical works at Nottingham鈥檚 new 12 000sqm The Becket School. The contract is worth 拢3.8m.

The work, for main contractors Rok 黑洞社区, is due to be finished in July 2009

Construction of the voluntary-aided Roman Catholic school is the culmination of 10 years of planning. Due to open in September 2009, and designed by Horsley Huber Architects, the new building will bring together upper and lower schools that until now have operated on two sites set a mile-and-a-half apart.

Skerritt is providing all mechanical and electrical services in the 1050-place secondary school. It includes a rainwater harvesting system with a 25 000 litre underground storage tank, used for toilet flushing, and a small-scale woodchip fuel boiler. The system has been designed for use as a teaching resource.

Skerritt CEO Martyn Horton commented: 鈥淭his project is further evidence of Skerritt鈥檚 growing reputation in the education construction sector and underlines the company鈥檚 successful partnership approach with Rok 黑洞社区 and other major construction companies.鈥

Skerritt鈥檚 other education works include Nottingham University鈥檚 Jubilee Campus and the Leicester Grammar School.
