White Young Green鈥檚 energy division, which was launched this week, is investigating the possibility of producing energy from dead cows.

Richard Coakley, head of energy at the consultant, confirmed that the group was looking at different methods of providing energy.

He said: 鈥淲e are looking at tidal energy, working on a hydrogen project and we are looking at producing energy from bovine carcasses.鈥

He added: 鈥淩esearch shows that the fat from them is a highly efficient bio fuel.鈥

White Young Green鈥檚 energy business will focus on nuclear and renewables work. The launch comes a month after the company announced the appointment of Lawrie Haynes, the former head of the British Nuclear Group, as chief executive.

Haynes will take over the role in July from John Purvis, who is retiring.
