Consumer Price Index shows no inflation rise in October despite rise in student tuition fees
There was no change in inflation in October despite pressure for an increase in student tuition fees.
The Consumer Price Index, the government鈥檚 measure of inflation, was 2.4% for the second month in a row.
The increase in undergraduate tuition fees to 拢3000 put upward pressure on inflation however the drop in transport costs including the price of petrol dampened inflationary pressure.
However, the Retail Price Index, the alternative measure for inflation, rose to 3.7% in October, up from 3.6% in September.
