Skanska UK turnover increased 14% but profit at group was hampered by poor performance in Denmark

Turnover at Skanska UK grew 14.4% to 拢907.2m for the year ending 31 December 2006, it said today.

Operating income jumped 19.2% to 拢30.4m giving the group a margin of 3.3%. It did not release a pre-tax profit figure.

The company鈥檚 order intake for the year was 拢1.8bn and it highlighted PFI schemes which had reached financial close during the period including Barts & The New London Hospitals Redevelopment and Bristol Schools.

The news comes as parent company Skanska revealed group turnover for 2006 grew 4% to 拢9.1bn. However it reported a 23% drop in net profit for the final quarter of 2006 to 拢88m due to a poor performance at its Danish commercial building business.
