Government pledges £93m for training in selected sectors, including housing and FM

The UK government has announced a three-year agreement with employers to deliver more skilled workers in selected sectors, including housing and facilities management.

More than £93m will be earmarked from the government's training budget to tackle skills shortages within these key sectors, which also include fashion and textiles.

Of the total funding, £69m will be allocated to the property, housing, cleaning and facilities management sectors.

The announcement by skills minister Lord Young is part of a radical shake-up of the skills and training system, begun by ministers to tackle existing and forecast skills shortages.
