The Construction Skills Certification Scheme was extended this week to cover professional occupations, including engineering, quantity surveying and architecture.
The new Professionally Qualified Persons Card is targeted at clients, designers, consultants, facilities managers and others who are not on site, but have wider health and safety responsibilities. All professionals will be required to sit a health and safety test.
At the launch of the scheme on Monday, former construction minister Nick Raynsford said: 鈥淭his is of huge importance in achieving a more joined-up, safer and more productive industry.鈥
