Ex-Davis Langdon and RLB consultant joins firm's Birmingham office
Consultant McBains Cooper has appointed Glyn Thomas to head up its Birmingham office. He will be responsible for a team of 15 QSs and building surveyors.
With over 30 years’ experience in the QS industry in the Midlands, Thomas has worked across the commercial, retail, education and residential sectors.
Thomas joins McBains Cooper from Davis Langdon. Prior to that he ran his own practice, Thomas Johnson. He was responsible for running the Birmingham office of Bucknall Austin (now Rider Levitt Bucknall) in the mid 1990s.
Major projects he has worked on include the Wesleyan HQ building, Birmingham; Central TV HQ, Birmingham; Grace Academy, Coventry; Sandwell Academy, Tipton; Phases I and II of Wolverhampton Science Park; Bilston College New Campus and various buildings on the University of Wolverhampton’s Telford Campus.
The firm's Birmingham office has recently celebrated a number of milestones, including acquisition surveys and architectural services for 70 Phones4u stores, the installation of 200 consulting rooms for Alliance Boots and the fit-out of 200 Threshers stores.
Recent instructions include major roll-out programmes for BT Telecom and the Spirit Group. The firm is also advising developer Concept Development Solutions on a 650 unit residential project and a £15m care home in Birmingham’s Irish Quarter.
