The 43-storey development by Coin Street Community Builders was reduced in height by the architect following local objections
Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands' tower for Coin Street Community Builders has been given the green light by Lambeth Council planners.
The 43-storey building on the South Bank in London had been reduced in height from 173m to 144m following 52 local objections.
The Doon Street site will include a further two smaller buildings which will contain a shopping and leisure centre. A 鈥榯own square鈥 next to the plot will link Waterloo station and the IMAX cinema to the National theatre and other attractions on the South Bank.
Councillor Paul McGlone, cabinet member for regeneration and enterprise at Lambeth Council, said the scheme 鈥渟hould bring significant investment and employment opportunities to the north of the borough, as well as providing retail, residential and leisure space for local residents and visitors.鈥
The tower will comprise two parts with the top section facing the river Thames. Light coloured masonry with concrete, reconstituted stone and white render will be used on the facade.
