Architect Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands is already engaged in masterplanning a 拢500m redevelopment of University College London鈥檚 existing site
Architect Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands has been appointed to draw up plans for a new University College London campus in Newham.
The firm will develop plans for teaching and research space as well as possible community, residential and commercial facilities in the Greater Carpenters Neighbourhood.
Alex Lifschutz, director of Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, said: 鈥淭his is an exciting time for Stratford and we believe the new UCL Campus will enhance an already significant part of London.鈥欌
The firm is already masterplanning a 拢500m redevelopment of UCL鈥檚 existing Bloomsbury campus. The Greater Carpenters site has been chosen by the University, in part, because of good transport links to its existing campus.
Professor Malcolm Grant, UCL President and Provost, said: 鈥淭he Carpenters Neighbourhood proposal represents a great opportunity for UCL, creating an additional campus at the heart of the Olympic Legacy with excellent transport links to our existing facilities.鈥
UCL has to file plans for the development by mid-2012 for consideration by the Mayor of Newham and the council.
