拢8.6m Jerwood DanceHouse opens this week on Ipswich waterfront

An 拢8.9m dance centre design by John Lyall Architects is opening in Ipswich this week.

The Jerwood DanceHouse provides 2,500 m2 of state-of-the-art facilities for dance, including four dance studios, a 200-seat studio theatre, dressing rooms, therapy suites and a cafe.

The centre, which will also provide the headquarters for the dance organisation DanceEast, is at the centre of a 拢70m redevelopment of the Ipswich waterfront.

Above the centre, which is clad in green-grey zinc panels, is a 23-storey tower and two smaller residential blocks.

The DanceHouse has been funded through private and public partnership.
