Facility set to be the largest built environment education centre in Europe
ISG is to build a 拢26m School of Architecture and Built Environment for the University of Wolverhampton.
The scheme, which is being project managed by Rider Levett Bucknall, had been due to be built by Wates. However after the school underwent a re-design that arrangement fell through.
Procured via the Pagabo Framework, ISG will build the 86,000ft虏 school 鈥 designed by Birmingham-based Associated Architects and set to be the largest built environment education centre in Europe 鈥 around the former Springfield Brewery鈥檚 clock tower.
A new build three-storey steel frame structure will wrap around the existing tower, while ISG will retain the outer brick fa莽ade of the former brewery building.
The school (pictured) will cater for around 1,200 students and 65 staff, with specialist laboratories, multi-disciplinary workshops, ICT suites, a lecture theatre and an upper level 鈥榮uper鈥 studio.
It will also provide social learning and work spaces, a caf茅, offices and meeting rooms.
