Scaffolding sculpture erected in middle of Elephant & Castle site
A 35ft 鈥渟caffolding sculpture鈥 has been temporarily installed on a construction site next to Elephant & Castle station.
鈥淪tag鈥 by Ben Long is made entirely of scaffolding components. It will remain in the middle of the Elephant & Castle regeneration zone for a period of two months.
The sculpture, currently on Oakmayne Properties鈥 dormant site on Elephant Road, will be dismantled in July. The components will then be transported to a different location and used to create a new scaffolding sculpture.
Long said: 鈥溾淚t is my intention to create artworks that engage with people who might otherwise have little or no involvement in the visual arts. I want to extend the boundaries of where art can be seen and how it can make people feel.鈥
