Fire-rated floor doors by Bilco have been used at the Forum, the latest addition to the University of Hertfordshire
The 拢38m development forms part of the university鈥檚 College Lane Campus in Hatfield and houses student and community facilities.
The floor doors provide a secondary means of escape from the Forum鈥檚 plant room and provide up to two hours of protection in the event of a fire. Measuring 915 x 1,220mm and 785 x 1,040mm, each door is constructed of steel with a fire-resistant coating for added safety. They are designed and tested to the British Standard BS 476, Part 22.
The doors are fitted with lift assistance which permits one-handed operation and each has an automatic hold-open arm.
