Blaze damages scaffolding and 11-storey building that was being demolished
Firefighters were yesterday called to a building site in the City of London after a building due for demolition caught fire.
According to reports, the Milton Court building at the Barbican centre was being demolished to make way for an extension to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
A London Fire Service spokesperson said half of the scaffolding surrounding the 11-storey building was damaged by the blaze. The building was also damaged.
The cause of the fire is unknown at the moment but is not being treated as suspicious.
Architect Guy Booth once said of Milton Court: 鈥淚t is symptomatic of the bad, egotistical architecture of the 1960s and 1970s and should be flattened.鈥
