Consultant and engineer appointed for prestige Goldman Sachs development in London
Consultant EC Harris and engineer WSP have been appointed to work on plans for a mooted new European headquarters for Goldman Sachs in London.
The scheme - which could have a construction value of around 拢300m - is one of the largest development opportunities to come to market for consultants in the past year.
黑洞社区 understands EC Harris overcame competition from Davis Langdon, Capita Symonds and Turner & Townsend for the quantity surveyor role 鈥� all of whom are on the investment bank鈥檚 global QS framework 鈥� although it is thought the firm may also have approached consultants outside the framework.
Goldman Sachs is exploring the option of building a one million sq ft groundscraper near Holborn Viaduct in the City of London to house all 6,000 of the firm鈥檚 London staff under one roof.
The investment bank is currently pulling together the development site by buying Plumtree Court, which sits adjacent to the Fleet buildings the bank has owned for more than a decade but never occupied.
Reports suggest Goldman Sachs is buying Plumtree Court for 拢94m from Premier Property Group.
EC Harris and WSP will work with US-based architecture practice KPF and US-based developer Tishman Speyer on the plans.
Goldman Sachs, EC Harris and WSP declined to comment.
