All 31 staff at the Oldham civil engineer are made redundant
Oldham-based civil engineer Dew Construction has fallen into administration with the loss of all 31 jobs.
Parent company DCT Civil Engineering said in a statement Dew had been impacted by settlement issues on 鈥渄ifficult contracts鈥 and an adjudication result which 鈥渇ell some way short of expectations鈥.
The statement continued: 鈥淭he consequent cash flow difficulties coupled with a severely depressed forward workload in the stagnant construction sector meant there was no prospect of sustainable forward trading.鈥
Ernst & Young was appointed administrator on 30 May.
DCT acquired the civil engineering and framework divisions of Dew 鈥 which had offices in Oldham and Coventry 鈥 in 2006.
John Hensman, business development director for DCT, said: 鈥淐ompetition in the market has increased and while Dew consistently outperformed its peers on quality, the economic climate, pressure on tender prices and very aggressive contract administration by some clients has meant that this is often not enough.鈥
