Route through national park presents engineering and environmental challenges

Costain has won a 拢150m deal to build the A465 Heads of the Valleys road in South Wales.

The Welsh government awarded a contract to a consortium made up of Costain, Atkins, Halcrow and RPS Group to design and construct an 8km section between Brynmawr and Gilwern.

In an announcement the company said that the project will present 鈥渟ignificant engineering and environmental challenges鈥� because of the route of the road through the Clydach Gorge within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Chief executive of Costain Andrew Wyllie said:
