Firm will build a series of tourism projects in Oman
Carillion has won a £130m contract to build a series of tourism projects in Oman, including exhibition halls and an energy centre.
The firm said it had been awarded the contract by the Oman Tourism & Development Company (Omran), which has been set up by the government of Oman to deliver major projects in the tourism sector, including exhibition halls, an energy centre and a three-storey car park.
The 18 month contract, which is scheduled to begin in July 2013, involves the construction of 13 buildings, including exhibition halls with a gross floor area of 45,000m2, an energy centre, ancillary buildings for security, taxi services, maintenance, waste management facilities and electrical substations and car parks for 4,200 vehicles.
The firm will also deliver mechanical, electrical and plumbing installation, all interior finishes and landscaping.
The contract will be delivered by Carillion Alawi.
The contract forms part of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre Project, which has an estimated construction value in the region of £1bn
