Bovis Lend Lease has announced a set of sustainability targets aimed at boosting the firm鈥檚 eco-credentials.
The group has pledged to build all projects worth 拢5m or more to BREEAM 鈥榁ery Good鈥 standard by 2010.
It said it would reduce company carbon emissions by 20% and construction waste to landfill by 70% by the same year.
UK head of sustainability Dr Paul Toyne said: 鈥淟ast year sustainability was recognised as one of the guiding principles of the business and it is now one of the foundations around which we build our success and stake our reputation as a leading construction company.
鈥淲e believe that we are the first UK construction company to make a commitment of this kind in these important areas and we believe we are setting the right standards for the construction industry.鈥
The announcement comes two weeks after housebuilder Berkeley released its own targets. It pledged to be the first major housebuilder to ensure all its homes meet level three of the Code for Sustainable Homes from 1 January next year.
