Housebuilder's pre-tax profit reaches 拢53.1m on the back of a steady housing market

Bovis Homes has reported an 18% profit rise for the first half, as its results were boosted by a steady housing market.

Pre-tax profit rose to 拢53.1m for the six months to 30 June 2006, compared with 拢45.1m in the same period in 2005. Group turnover increased 17% to 拢250.5m across the same period, with housing turnover rising 22% to 拢238.1m.

Malcolm Harris, Bovis Homes Group chief executive, said that sales reservations levels were ahead of the corresponding period in 2005.

He said: 鈥淏ovis Homes has delivered a good set of half year results. Looking forward, based upon the group鈥檚 trading experience to date, the board鈥檚 expectations remain unchanged in respect of profits for the full year.鈥
