Firm will deliver Aylesbury Vale Academy and is preferred bidder for two other schools

Bam has won a 拢22m contract to deliver the new Aylesbury Vale Academy in Buckinghamshire.

The project is the firm鈥檚 second win under the Partnership for Schools (PfS) national framework in the South-east, after it secured the Medway academies last year.

Bam鈥檚 framework director Keith Rayner said: 鈥淎ylesbury Vale Academy is the first project within Buckinghamshire County Council鈥檚 batch, which will deliver three new schools worth in excess of 拢40m. It is a very significant win for the business, with BAM now the preferred bidder for the rest of the batch.

鈥淥ur team in the South East, together with support from central services, worked extremely hard to win this project. We are all very excited about carrying out the contract and developing further our relationship with Buckinghamshire County Council.鈥�

The building is being designed by Nicholas Hare Architects and the academy will open for students in September 2013. Work is expected to commence early next year.

The school will be organised around a central 鈥渋nnovation space鈥�, which features a large ETFE covered atrium.

Each of the academy鈥檚 three colleges has a dedicated wing and there will be a terracotta-clad learning resource centre.

Bam鈥檚 education work in Buckinghamshire has included Cressex Community School and Bucks New University. The firm also won the first of a new tranche of academies in Bolton last month, to build Kearsley Academy.
