Contractor and support services group Alfred McAlpine has sold its 50% stake in Core Utility Solutions to Scottish Power for £10m.
Core, which provided customer connections, was established by McAlpine and Scottish Power in 2002 and last year made a £3.8m pre-tax profit.
McAlpine said that the disposal was the result of a review of the business by Scottish Power in response to changes in the UK connections market. Core is now a subsidiary of Scottish Power.
McAlpine said that the disposal was not expected to have a material impact on the group’s cash position. It added that it would continue to work on other infrastructure services projects with Scottish Power.
