Electrical engineering and contracting company T. Clarke is to close or sell two of its regional businesses.

The firm said that given the difficult state of the market, it was to undertake a 鈥渞estructuring programme鈥� which is expected to lead to two of its divisions being closed or sold off.

Barry DeFalco, managing director of the company鈥檚 UK regional operations, has agreed to stand down and will leave T. Clarke on 30 September.

The company鈥檚 annual general meeting in May suggested that market conditions were 鈥渃hallenging鈥�, leading to a strategic review of the firm鈥檚 operations. As a result of this review, the board said it does not expect to meet current market expectations for the year.

Cost reduction measures and redundancies are to be expected. The company refused to comment on which of its regional businesses were to go.
